    Events in space history for 06/13:
    • First manpowered flight across the English Channel by Paul MacCready's "Gossamer Albatross" pedaled by pilot and champion cyclist Bryan Allen. It took 2 hours and 49 minutes to cross using the 75 foot long plane (1979).
    • Pioneer 10 became first manmade object to escape the solar system, 2.814 billion miles from the Sun (1983).
