West Elementary School - East Rochester, Ohio
    Teacher Karen Schonauer

It's been another great experience growing soybean and wheat plants at West Elementary School in East Rochester, Ohio. Teacher Karen Schonauer has two 5th grade classes, so there are three-five students for each plant. It becomes a competition to see whose plant grows the highest, has the largest leaves, the most pods, etc.  The students take ownership of their plants.  In their class, the best growth medium was in vermiculite and soil for both soybean and dwarf wheat plants. They had one soybean in zeolite that was only 30 cm in height but had 17 leaves.  It was a beautiful, full plant. Congratulations on another successful year West Elementary!
