Read all About it: First Powered Flight
Mission:
Create the front page of a newspaper. Pretend you are the Editor of a newspaper on December 17, 1903. Use your reporting skills to describe the Wright Brothers first powered flight experience 100 years ago in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Things to Consider:
Use your reporter instincts to get behind the scenes. You will also want to name your newspaper and conduct interviews with the Wright Brothers and other observers. Be creative, you could even insert comics, advertisements or other newspaper front page components.
Entries will be judged on content and creativity.
The top four entries will be showcased on the Space Explorers website.
Requirements:
Please keep the size of your newspaper to one side of an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper. Please submit your newspapers by January 23, 2004. Include your name, your teacher's name, school name and address, school phone and/or teacher's e-mail address. Please include a note if you would like us to send back your original entries.

Background:
Orville and Wilbur Wright were convinced that human flight was 'possible and practical,' and on December 17, 1903, they proved successful with four flights at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. It was this achievement that opened the Era of Aviation.
